Life as a Four Month Old Brieleigh Bug

Here is a post about all the new and exciting things our little girl has been doing.

We have been working hard on getting our resident little night owl to go to sleep at a more reasonable hour so that Mommy and Daddy can go to sleep at a more reasonable hour too! After she stayed up until 1:30 am a few weeks ago, we decided something has to be done! She typically goes to bed at night between 9:30-12. So we started a bedtime routine that we typically follow: a bath, read her Bible story, swaddle, and nurse to sleep. Sometimes she does great and is asleep by 9 or even earlier. Other times she falls alseep, we lay her down , and after a few minutes she is up and ready to go again. And still other times she just will not let herself fall alseep at all no matter how tired she is. We have been charting her nap and bedtimes to see where her "natural" sleepy times are then we will go from there!

She is so precious when she sleeps! (and all the time)
Whenever she wakes up when I put her in her playpen at night, as soon as she sees David or I coming to check on her she gets the biggest smile on her face and her whole body lights up. So cute, but please, Brieleigh, you can smile in the morning!

Brieleigh also had her first real food this week... rice cereal! She was so ready and excited to eat it. The first time we fed her they said to make it really liquidy so it was basically breastmilk on a spoon. The second time we made it thicker though, and she couldn't get enough. I think she is going to be a good little eater.

She also is very infatuated with her spoons,, and she loves to grab the food first before it gets to her mouth.

Let me do it, Mommy!

Brieleigh also has been using the big girl potty a few times this week. I sit her on it at various times (usually after waking up) and twice she has peed and twice she has pooped.. in the potty! The first time she did go half in her diaper, but still not too bad for a four month old! And just a few minutes ago after her nap, she went as soon as I sat her there! We are hoping for an early potty trainer...

Brieleigh and I also met some sweet friends at the Dallas Arboretum for a lovely picnic. The weather was great and the flowers , fountains, and lake were so pretty! Brieleigh LOVES being outside.

It is hard to take good pictures since she can't sit up yet!
I have to hold on to her arms or waist.

Last night, we grilled out. Daddy grilled some yummy BBQ chicken, some veggie skewers, potato slices, and cheese. We all enjoyed our hammock while the food was grilling, then enjoyed a nice supper on our patio!

Sweet David Grilling

Brieleigh loves the hammock and her Mommy and Daddy! So cuddly!
