Our Weekend

On Friday, David and I both worked. A friend kept Brieleigh in the morning then David picked her up in the afternoon. We haven't been out to eat much lately so since David had a little cash in his wallet we decided to spend it at Sweet Tomatoes- always a good choice! We fed Brieleigh a couple beans some squash and zucchini shreds and some watermelon. That kept her pretty occupied.
She has started to get seperation anxiety from me though so everytime I would go get some food from the buffet she would scream. Sometimes when David comes home she will smile and go to him then want to come back to me. Sometimes it makes David said, but I told him it is just this stage and she knows I have her food.
This Saturday I worked at Baylor. I was scheduled for 5 hours and worked a little over 8. I miss my family so much on the weekends. It was especially hard because David has been traveling more and working such long hours during the week so I feel like I haven't gotten to spend as much time with him as usual. That night we made pizza and did some things around the house.
Sunday we went to church and heard a sermon on Proverbs 30- on being Rich and Poor. One of the main points of the sermon was that is you are poor make sure it is not because you are not diligent and if you are rich (which the majority of Americans are compared to other countries) don't think you do not need God but let your generosity with your money help you find contentment in God. Brieleigh went to nursery some of the time. She also nursed twice which is a lot for her at church- once she was too distracted looking at the other little girl in the nursing mothers room to eat, then again because she had gone to nursery, missed her nap and was exhausted and wanted her mommy. We drove to Ham's Orchard after church in Terrell, TX to get some peaches on the last day of the season before they close. We bought a $15 box of peaches last week and a $25 box of peaches this week. All in all I think we bought 50 lbs total. We have eaten a lot, made some peach cobblers, Brieleigh has thoroughly enjoyed her share, and we are working on freezing the rest to enjoy the rest of the year until next peach season. I think fresh peaches are my favorite fruit.
We took a nap, before waking up to clean for our company coming over. We had three couples from church over for dinner- Jane and Andrew Edson, Wes and Katie Baker, and Carrie and Jeremy Gilbert. We made gluten-free crepes with fruit and fixins, grits, and bacon. It was labor intensive, but my sweet husband flipped them all. It was well worth the effort and oh so tasty. We played Balderdash after supper and had many laughs. I am very thankful for the friends we have. I feel like it has taken us all 3 years here to finally feel like we have a community, and it is makes life here more bearable. The thought of moving and remaking friends makes me nauseated, but the thought of living the rest of my life in the city makes me queasy too.
It was a hard weekend too, because my sister had to be admitted to the hospital because of miscarriage complications. Thankfully she is home and feeling better, but obviously it will still be hard for them. I thank God for the precious lives she carried and for bringing her through this without any permanent physical damage. It was so hard not being close enough to go see her and love on them. I hate that about being so far away! Pray for them if you think about it!

And now to leave you with a picture of Brieleigh in her Sunday dress on her 8 month old birthday (where has the time gone and how did my baby grow so fast? 8 month old pictures coming soon, I hope)...

My active girl

She always makes this face now because she likes grinding her four teeth together.
