Camping at Colorado Bend State Park

This past weekend we went camping with some friends, Jane and Andrew. We left Friday after work and got home Sunday night. It was alot of fun, very beautiful, and a little bit different camping when I was 29 weeks pregnant. Our campsite was right on the Colorado River which we floated around in one afternoon. There were also waterfalls and natural springs around. One waterfall was 65 feet high and you had to hike to it. We set off to find it from our campsite thinking it was a 5 mile roundtrip, but arrived at the waterfall 2.5 hours later very worn out. We are pretty sure out 5 mile roundtrip information was a little inaccurate. Everyone at the waterfall was impressed we had gone on the long trail, and one guy asked if we wanted to take a shorter trail back to his car and he would give us a ride back since I was pregnant. David, not wanting me to get much more worn out, hiked back with the guy to his car who drove him to get our car. The other three of us ate lunch and met him at the parking lot. The guy was very nice to give David a ride, and I am thankful that David left the waterfall almost right after we got there to hike with strangers so that he could save me from walking the long trail all the way home- I have such a sweet, selfless husband! Anyway, we saw snakes, deer, and armodillas (which David chased almost into our campsite). We had alot of yummy food over our campfire, and just enjoyed God's creation. The scenery at times was breathtaking and such evidence of God's majesty and beauty in His creation.

  1. Oh yes, Jamey, 29 weeks pregnant and a snake...my kind of fun (but glad it is yours and I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures). And you do have a sweet husband.
